Our Story
Our story begins in 1983 in the bustling market streets of Abobloshi in the heart of Accra, Ghana. Managing a teacher’s salary, Mama Comfort embarked on a journey to share her love of African textiles in order to help provide for her family. Upon immigrating to the United States, she was unable to find a space that allowed her to share her love of textiles, so she decided to establish her own.
Our Vision
African Oasis Inc.is a brand born out of love, necessity, and community, and now we want to continue sharing that story. African Oasis Inc. is a retail store that celebrates culture through textiles and art. We aim to provide high-quality textiles and art to our customers while fostering a community for people, a place to learn heritage and trace roots, for others to grow, and for others to have a sense of pride in their African background. But in all, to tell a larger story of loving one another.
